Every shoebox is an opportunity to show a child around the world that they are seen, loved, and not forgotten.
This Christmas, Elgin Methodist Church is partnering with Operation Christmas Child to send gift-filled shoeboxes to children around the world. Each box is packed with fun, practical items and, most importantly, the opportunity for a child to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
One box can carry a whole lot of hope.
🎁 How It Works
1. Get a Shoebox
Pick up an Operation Christmas Child shoebox at EMC or use your own standard-size shoebox.
2. Fill It With Love
Choose gifts that are fun, practical, and appropriate for a child. Think toys, school supplies, hygiene items, and other small treasures.
3. Pray Over Your Box
Before you bring it back, pray for the child who will receive it. We believe prayer is a powerful part of this ministry.
4. Bring It Back to EMC no later than NOVEMBER 22
Return your completed shoebox during our collection period. We'll make sure it gets where it needs to go.
📦 HOW TO PACK YOUR SHOEBOX
1. Choose a Box
Pick up an official Operation Christmas Child shoebox at EMC, or use a standard-size shoebox of your own.
2. Choose an Age & Gender
Pack for a boy or girl in one of these age groups:
- Ages 2–4
- Ages 5–9
- Ages 10–14
3. Fill Your Box
Start with a WOW gift—something that will immediately excite the child—then add school supplies, hygiene items, toys, clothing accessories, and other age-appropriate gifts.
4. Pray
This is one of the most important parts.
Pray for the child who will receive your box.
Ask God to prepare their heart and use your simple gift to show them His love.
5. Bring It Back
Return your completed shoebox to EMC by NOVEMBER 22.

Don't overthink it!
WOW Gifts
Soccer balls, dolls, stuffed animals, toy cars, jump ropes, etc.
School Supplies
Pencils, crayons, colored pencils, notebooks, pencil sharpeners, etc.
Hygiene Items
Toothbrushes, bar soap, washcloths, combs, brushes, etc.
Other Gifts
Small toys, crafts, games, clothing accessories, and other age-appropriate items.
